I remember the times when Rob Mitchell died from cancer. Here or there, i
read that Warp would no longer be the same anymore — i.e. the label would
then release some dubious music.
I was sceptical first and thought «*what do they know ?!*»... but the
prophecies applied.
The neo-no-disco-cosmopolitan-left-wing-alter-native-crossroads premise
Warp became is not enough to me.
That reminds me Accidental Records' motto saying «*support independant
music*» : there's one word too much there, because you support music or
not, and independance has nothing to say here. Of course i wouldn't say so
if only Matthew «*Go Beyonce Go Beyonce*» Herbert — with all the respect he
deserves besides — released some better music than he does.
Now i see the new Accidental motto is : «*an independant home for music
without compromise*» — too bad that one of my favorite quotes from a famous
french writer (Andre Gide) actually is «*L’art naît de contrainte, vit de
lutte, meurt de liberté*», which exactly means «*Art is born from
constraint, lives through struggle and dies through liberty.*»
Okay, i know selling music is not an easy thing and marketing has its
reasons, but all of this vacuity exhausts me.
Sorry for this but as i first said : i'm getting old !
Let's go to bed anyway.
Good nite everybody.
