OK, some of you eggheads who have to buy everything
will probably disagree with me, but I just have to say
that, despite the flood of new Warp releases, this
summer seems otherwise bereft of new outstanding IDM
releases. I mean, other than the just-released
Marumari album, all the stuff I find myself
continually listening to and loving is from the first
part of the year or last year.
So anyways, I'm wondering what things everyone is
really really really looking forward to (besides Mr. A
to the X)?
I mean, the only things I'm really looking forward to
at this point, in the Summer, are Bogdan's new EP
(hopefully on its way to me now), md's Between Gaps,
that headphone compilation, maybe the new Eardrum
album, assuming Leaf manages to get it out, but I
don't know about that. Definitely upcoming Proem,
Machine Drum, and Freeform. Maybe the Solvent on
Morr, but as much as I liked the last Solvent, I'm
wary of Morr releases.
Otherwise, looking forward to a nice end of the
summer, with Bjork and Tori Amos both coming out with
new material, though it promises to not be the best
for either of them.
I have to give props to the first 2-3 tracks on
Funckarma's Solid State. Excellent start. Too bad
the rest kinda shrivels back to the generic level of
their first release.
