If A, then B, does not constitute if B, then A. I didn't say what you just implied in the first sentence. What I said was that because of the Tony Hawks recognition, it became popular. I was not suggesting that in order for IDM to be considered "trendy", performers like RDJ or AE had to be famous. I was merely focusing on the fact that the trends we encounter come and go. Like you said, right now, the trend is that producers of big name artist like Missy Elliot, Britney Spears, etc. are all into this "IDM" sound. Well, maybe not "all", but a good number of producers. Granted, this has caused grand exposure for this kind of music, but I don't think that anyone listening to Missy Elliot would say, "this sounds like Aphex Twin", or whatever. I don't think that half of the people out there listening to these songs and commercials have a clue of what "IDM" even means, Intellegent Dance Music.
