ok, in the spirit of the request to post more news etc., has anyone else heard the super-secret new Skam related record by Mortal + Chemist ? Dont know whether this is a pseudonym or whether they're established artists, but in terms of presentation the record is similar to "Shapes" - clear plastic sleeve, heavy heavy vinyl and no label info. its definitely Skam though, from a very reliable source. The music is slightly reminiscent of Team Doyobi, cut up hip-hop but very sparse and gritty sounding...much like the 30mil releases, and with an amusing eminem destruction at the end. i didnt like it, but my hip-hop loving friend did. Also heard a promo cassette of the Team Doyobi album on Skam...much much better than everything else i've heard, which i really didnt like...its a lot more melodic, a bit like the black dog circa Spanners. The new Tube Jerk/Tim Wright single on Novamute is as close to Two-Step garage as Techno can get and is absolutely excellent. And its not IDM, but the Regis/Surgeon split-single is brilliant too. ________________________________________________________ "I believe in the modern world.
