Because if I like the music (and why else would I pay x-number of dollars to
see some musician if I didn't?), why don't I just sit at home with my
headphones on? To interact with the other, like-minded individuals present?
Fuck, like you said most are nerds and socially inept. Most people at
IDM-type events get noticeably nervous when someone talks to them out of the
blue. Maybe I can even include myself in that generalization (althought why
would I volunteer to incriminate myself like that?). . .
I would welcome any electronic ("laptop") musician who would let others walk
around and see exactly what he/she/it is doing on their machine. However,
to date I have not yet had the joy. Maybe it is my immature need to see the
visual accompanyment to the sound. In attending the symphony you can, at
the very least, watch the musicians fingers travel over the instrument,
their arms sway over bowed strings. Slight, but somehow quite satisfying.
Cex at least runs around and talks to the audience and rips all his clothes
off.
Pointless argument I suppose, one which will gain no converts in the end.
