It's kind of old, but it's vintage Robert Hood

this is Robert Hood month over here at the Kurt house.
First thing that made me sit up and take notice was the "Red Passion
3" 12" which has a couple of tracks which seem to rely heavily (and
effectively) on very early Phillip Glass samples (electric
organ/soprano saxes). Has a stark, disruptive funkiness, as well as a
scary hypnotic vibe...I don't know, it really startled and impressed
me.
Was further impressed by most of Nighttime World Pt 2. while i gotta
admit a couple of the reverb-soaked ambient numbers on that album
kinda bug me, it's, you know, a concept album. it hangs together in a
pretty interesting way, veering from house-funk tropes to stridently
minimal techno. lots of unexpected touches, like the loud machine
noise (a manual typewriter?) hitting way behind the beat on track 3.
strong, clean, soulful, weird.
anyway, i'm sure he's old news to many of you, but, you know how it
is when you catch on to these things...if anyone has any Robert Hood
recommendations, resources or news, i'd be grateful to receive them.
