Super Audio CD players (SACD) can play SACDS and regular run-of-the-mill
audio cds. You won't be able to take advantage of the advantages of SACD
when listening to a regular CD though. (Whatever those advantages are).
You will also be paying at least $1000 for a good player, and in my opinion
is a complete waste. DVD Audio, if anything, is the only viable NEXT step
in music media.

Shot in the dark - meaning I might be wrong, but I think it's the new
Sony Super CD, with various layers, loads more storage space, etc.
and afaik, it should be downwards compatible.
You'll probably get more erudite and comprehensive answers...
