Although i don't really listen to much of trent reznor's music, i have a lot
of respect for him, in interviews he openly praises his influences like
ministry and skinny puppy (amongst others), his label has carried many of
the warp acts i love now, and he has signed several other acts that i
respect like einsturzende neubauten and coil. Not trying to say that he is
some kind of visionary or a great musician, but he isn't afraid to try new
things or talk about where his influences lie. He even goes into heavy
detail as to how his music is made (which is more than most acts discussed
here are willing to do)
