Not exactly sure what Scott was saying, but it wasn't until the sixties
that the idea of a mega-corp labels became widespread. It may be
useful to remember that the corp v. indie dialectic that dominates
people's understanding of music production is specific to recent times.
I mean, Atlantic Records started out as an indie, for fuck's sake!

Yeah, but mostly they were trying to one-up the Beach Boys. On the other
