I've been listening to Vanitas by 10:32 for a while, and I thought that I'd
share.

I'm not sure if this technically even qualifies as IDM; track 1, Blue
Little falls nicely into the characteristic sound of the genre. But as for
the others, they feature a more stripped down, acoustic approach (although
one can still hear the electronic influence). How do you feel about this?
Love it, hate it?
Here's my two cents. I know it may seem contrived, but I like to talk about
emotion when I talk about music. And this album really hits a sweet spot.
It's filled with an indescribable longing that strikes me to my core, a
deep, profound sadness that manages never to seem bitter or angry. It's an
introspective, reminiscent, and thoughtful collection of songs, like the
nostalgic recollection of memories and subsequent realization that things
will indeed never be the same. The final track, Written Not Sent, never
ceases to bring up thoughts of leaving, saying goodbye for the last time,
perhaps even dying.
P.S.
10:32 is actually an alias for another, somewhat well established IDM
artist. Can anyone guess who it is?
