I believe it was pete townsend. Its happened to a great number of musicians. I really don't think people who where earplugs are pussies or wimps, its just that they valur their hearing. I've tried wearing earplugs at shows but I found it to be somewhat uncomfortable. Now, I typically try to stay a rational distance away from the speakers. I love music too much to let one show blow it for me.
