Miami-based Needle, aka Edward Bopp, and Sony Mao are touring
Europe in October, accompanied by a different European
electronica-artist in every country they visit. In Groningen, The
Netherlands, the two are supported by V/Vm: electronic noise in
which furious samplingmanipulations are brought into
prominence.
As in Europe, the US experimental electronica scene is
experiencing major changes. Miami, as one of the leading
electronica hotbeds, is the place for artists who incorporate
crackling sounds, warm basses and minimal beats into refreshing
and exciting pieces. Therefore it is an surprising exeption in the
already and still very active glitch/microsound genre.
The Beta Bodega Coalition, the artist collective Needle and Mao are
part of, is also a regular home for artists and labels like Jake
Mandell, Pushbutton Objects, Schematic, Chocolate Industries and
Plug Research. In Europe there are strong connections with a.o
Mego, Funkstörung and Worm Interface.
