i disagree with the statement "drugs just make you more of who you already are", and state the massive articles out there on ritalin as my supporting argument. i *do* believe that chemical use can lower inhibition, and since a lot of current lifestyles center around very straightlaced patterns and stress situations, such a "letting loose" helps in lowering inhibitions of a creative person locked in a non-creative lifestyle. but it's the same as people saying "i'm going out to the country to do some writing". they're getting away to let their creative sides come out. whether this is a form of escapism or not is up for debate (although likely not on this list), but the truth is that the creative side has always been there. they just don't find a way to express it in their "normal" lifestyle, and often need to find some way to either a) lower inhibitions or b) escape in order to express their creativity. later on cats!
