hehe, i keep going to that URL people are posting for Atom Heart in San Francisco next week, and finding, well, nothing, maybe it's just my web navigation skills :) also nothing in a tiny window, even better! so i went hunting around elsewhere, and lo and behold: http://www.sfstation.com/galleries/ccac.htm So, the event is a symposium on 'The Deleuzian Age', and I would imagine Atom Heart is turning up because I believe Gilles Deleuze (a philosopher) is a big influence on a lot of the German Force Inc-ish crowd? I seem to remember a Deleuze tribute album, and Mille Plateaux (the label) is named after something Deleuzian, right? Anyhow, Atom Heart plays Friday Sept. 22nd, and unfortunately, i'm betting not much Senor Coconut will get played, unless we're very lucky. :) But it still should be a blast.. I also note there's a number of other _very_ interesting concerts coming up in the same series, including Morton Subotnick and Kit Clayton, and Matthew Herbert and Radioboy (rare US appearance, surely? Matthew Herbert _is_ Radioboy, right? And Dr.Rockit, for those unaware..) And finally, I note there's a separate exhibition in CC Arts' San Francisco gallery involving a piece by Toshio Iwai. Toshio Iwai, for those not in the know, is a _really_ interesting multimedia artist who's collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto and did the ultimately quirky and cool PC piece of 'kids' software called "Sim Tunes" (in the "Sim City" series, uhh, sorta..) where you make insects crawl across colored blocks to make noise. Anyhow, it's genius, and started as an SF Exploratorium exhibit before it became a game.. anyone checked out his piece for this exhibition? Aha, God, I love the Net.. a little more researching found me the exact piece being exhibited - 'Composition On The Table': http://www.kah-bonn.de/1/34/0e.htm ..so, it's a weird pressing colored neon arrows on a table to make noise thing? Rock! Performance art is the new rock n roll :) later, h0l. ps - new Duann release (crunchy Jurassic skewed-theremin stuff from Australian artist with forthcoming album on Surgery..) at Monotonik, http://www.mono211.com :) _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
