"Are We Not Men Who Live And Die" is (IMO) one of the more beautiful IDM
tracks *ever* recorded and has absolutely nothing to do with the 80s
synthpop that seems to be so closely associated with the esteemed
Mr. Jeffs.
Anyway, if you haven't heard it, it's a bunch of analog synths that sound
like a choir singing "are we not men who live and die" over and over
again; I've been told was done without a vocoder or a sampler or anything
but even if that's not true (even if it's not, I'm going to keep believing
it, heh) it's still a fucking awesome song. The combination of the
haunting melody -- I hate to say it's "neoclassical" but that's the only
word I can think of -- and the almost eerie "computer" voice of the ANALOG
synths is just flat out amazing.
Anyway, you guys can keep fighting about the 80s stuff if you want :)
I like Cylob though, I really like DIOF97 a whole lot, and it's cheesy as
fuck, so I guess YMMV.
beep beep beep beep beeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep beep ... :D
I found my "AWNMWLAD" single (for $2) while I was looking for Billy
Childish singles last year sometime. Dame Fortune was smiling on my that
day.
