Interesting promotional idea from ADD N TO (X). ------------------------------------------------ ADD N TO (X)'s "Add Insult to Injury" smells like... GRASS. In conjunction with the upcoming release of Add Insult to Injury by ADD N TO (X), Mute Records will release a special limited edition version which will smell like freshly cut grass. This will be made available on CD and vinyl. Both formats will also contain a page of stickers. The band wanted to add an olfactory element to the visual and aural elements of the album. The synthesized smell concept involves something unnatural from something natural. This supports the common concepts the band explores in their music: the natural world vs. man vs. the machine. The band believes each song has its own landscape, its own psycho-geography. This idea will also act as an memory aid to remind you where you were when you listened to ADD N TO (X)'s third album. An unscented CD will be also be made available to consumers. All versions of "Add Insult to Injury" by ADD N TO (X) will be released on October 17, 2000. ------------------------------------------------ So does that mean that bad records are literally going to smell like shit as well as sounding like it? The creative olfactory possibilities are endless (as i'm sure the conversation about which will be). -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
