IDM is a mailing list, not a musical genre. If I keep repeating it, maybe
people will stop stressing on it as a tag.
The whole idea of this list I hope is to discuss music that is primarily
(though not exclusively) electronic, that bears repeated listening because
it's actually art -- an idiosyncratic expression of the artist.
That for me encompasses Steve Reich, Black Dog, Mad Professor, Amon Tobin,
Jeff Mills, My Bloody Valentine, Edgar Varese, Thomas Brinkmann, and on
and on til the break of dawn.
While that means that precious little music will be off-topic, maybe the
discussion about music and art can stay on topic if everyone unclamps their
sphinctres a few clicks.
