well my partner and i share a studio with a hip hop crew, we use the exact same tools and very similar methods for creating the music, it's just a question of the aesthetics of the resulting tracks i think. there's not really a division between the music we make and the hip hop stuff, more of a wide range ... some of our stuff could be classified as hip hop depending on how loose your definition is. i probably attend more hip hop shows than i do "idm" shows and i really wish "idm" acts would try more to capture the energy of much of the hip hop i've seen. unfortunately the lack of vocals and vocalists leads to the widest rift between the two classifications. much of the time, as soon as you put rhymes or vocals on top of beats, it's immediately transformed into "trip hop" or straight up hip hop. which is not a bad thing, i suppose josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Thu, 10 Aug 2000, Scott Pactor wrote:
