i dunno... i have been thinking about this a bit, what do i expect? when i
think of the RDJ album, i remember that it pretty much created a new genre
with his drum programming, and in general we all spent the next 10 years
ripping it off (not everyone but, you know what i mean), created an entire
genre really of break-core...
ICBYD wasn't as groundbreaking, but even then it was combining what was
essentially gabber, house, and weird rdj patented melodies, so again, it
was to me unlike anything i'd heard before (of course there was other
similar stuff going on at the time, i later learned, but rdj sort of took
the best of it, and made something entirely new)
SAW, well, we all know how SAW blew everyones mind with its ambient
melodies, again, its not like nobody had ever done ambient, but rdj put his
patented melodies into a new form and we all pissed our pants...
drukqs i felt like sort of a similar thing, he didn't really invent
anything new and amazing, he just recombined the 'current cool elements of
techno' with his amazing melodic sense and flying-fingers of death...it
also doesn't sound like anything else before or since.
so as far as what i expect, i sort of expect the same thing, its going to
be something different than anyone has heard in 13 years, and its probably
going to be really really good. i would be fine if there were no treated
piano tracks.
if not then im going to go cry on forums about how bad the pirated mp3s i
downloaded are and how betrayed i feel
(not!)
