Oh, it's not that there's anything wrong with it, I just get the impression
that this particular reviewer masks that fact, or at least tries to, with
the introductions in the article. I just usually assume, not necessarily
correctly, that most reviews work best when people are fans of a genre.
Obviously it can't be someone who just likes anything, but, for example,
most reviews of 'techno' by 'rock' fans will come off being whiney, and most
reviews of "country" will sound derogatory by anyone but a country fan :)

well from the introductions when he was talking about how they often don't
even make a beat easy, and stuff like that. he probably doesn't *hate*
them, but i'm sure he's one of the people who thought ep7 was dumb. =)

that would explain it! yes, i know there are a fair number of "idm"
magazines written by people "in the know", and things like forcefield are a
prime example. it just seems that there is a plethora of reviews by people
for non-idmish magazines [sic] and they always seem to be either derogatory
(just a little :) ) or way off. i dono.
