This is a revision of a message I already sent to the list in reply to another "what is there to do in socal" question. I have also included Orange County events (I am OC-Centric :) there are many more events in the LA than you would expect. start here in looking for events: www.socal-raves.org (yes its a raves calendar, but they list A LOT of events that have IDM/IDM-ish music -- i know its HORRIBLE to be affiliated with raves when youre an idm kid, but we can go to hell together). http://www.peachfuzz.net/scidm/index.html (on peachfuzz.net there is also info on lexaunculpt, dervish, shamballa and mix:media) http://www.csulb.edu/~gbach/calendar/index.html (list of all sorts of "experimental" type events in socal - crosses over to idm.. this is a new calendar that just surfaced) http://www.smartlink.net/~iceolate/shows.html (not just idm, but an excellent calendar of events!) there are also some radio stations (which host events as well) www.kuci.org / 88.9fm KUCI in Irvine lots of idm-stuff played on the station -- its orange county, but can be connected online. dublab.com (based in LA) -- check it out! more: KXLU 88.9fm, KSPC, KLA (KLA.org?) and less frequent on KCRW (89.9) and KPFK (90.7) also look out for things involving promoters like Public Space, Green Galactic, Peach, Pretension (actually a new label), SuperMetalCollective (not exclsively idm, but there is a crossover), motionsick, zeroeffortnetwork... there are some mailing lists too.. there is one called socalexp that is pretty cool but VERY open to many forms of music -- not exclusively IDM. the list is on that onelist/egroups thing. i would list all the artists and djs in the area that spin/produce idm-type stuff, but that would be HUGE :) fyi, isophlux moved to NY. hope this helps some, Chris. it.s ok to like noise it.s okay to like house it.s okay to like pop "nothing but respect to hello kitty" _we are all lost --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
