I too was at the Austin show. Musically I was impressed, but not that impressed. I was more excited about getting to see Negativeland, in action, in person. I guess you could say that I am more into the concept/process behind what they do than the actual product they produce. Nonetheless, it was very interesting to see how "lo-tech" their setup was. I was amazed that most, if not all their vocal samples were flown in from half a dozen of those cartridge players you find in radio station (the ones they use for PSAs and other soundclips that use 8-track looking cartridges) They must have had 200+ cartridges stacked up there on stage with them. I also enjoyed watching them mess with the 16mm projectors. Personally, I really could have done with out the two "skits" that opened both sets. I know that is part of Negativeland, but a part that, in my opinion, we could all do without... Gawd... I almost pissed my pants here at the Boston show ! That rendition of "A Big 10-8 Place" made me hallucinate... and I hadn't taken any psychadellics! And the puppet show..... I laughed for an hour straight! -Gropo 209.6.182.146 http://www.gropo.com MP3 RadioCast: http://216.32.166.75:8774 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
