"sonic pictures for the ear"
The development of festivals and art events is a form of orchestration, or
indeed, of composition: sonic and visual resources from the world at large,
selected and arranged so as to convey meaning. The fact that these
resources are fully realized artworks in their own right makes their
integration into a new situation all the richer.
