actually, it's John Hughes III. :) sorry. anyway, both the soundtrack and the movie, which was written by jr jr's dad, are pretty cool. the soundtrack more so. it turned me on to an almost completely unrelated-to-idm-or-electronic-music band called dianogah. anyone else heard them? it's 3 guys: a drummer and two bassists. their song on the soundtrack is great, and after i hearing it i've had to get all their available records...which unfortunately didn't quite meet my expectations, but are still really good. i don't know who to compare them to. at times, their sound reminds me of a recent favorite of mine, ganger. kinda kraut rock-y...sorta. what i like best is that the it's all rhythm section. the drums are brought forward (as they should be...not enough attention paid to them in guitar music) and the two bass players (one of which plays the "sharp" bass and the other, the "round") get some good stuff out of their guitars. very melodic, esp. for basses. anyway, something to check out if you are, like me, getting somewhat bored with electronic music. is anyone else getting that way? i dunno what it is. i think i just need a break or something. there was a time when i got sick of guitar music and listened almost exclusively to electronic stuff (not just idm, hip hop and d'n'b too, etc). at the time, about 4 years ago, i told my friend (who doesn't like electronic stuff at all, then or now) that rock was dead! ha ha. anyway, this kind of sucks right now, because my record collection is about 2/3 electronic! *sneaky idm content: can anyone recommend a good electronic record that might please me? recent stuff, i mean. i've been trying to pick up 'lily of the valley' for weeks now, but the local shop can't get it back in for some reason. anyway, any recommendations? to help rule out some stuff, i don't like the glitchy stuff or the really minimal stuff too much. i'm really looking for melody and something that makes me want to listen to it over and over. you know? something with at least a little hook to it? just a tiny one, please. that's all i want. think solvent or boc. when the hell is a new boards record coming out? DAMN. ok, i'm getting extra loopy now. sorry guys, it's 9:30AM and i just got off of work. thanks for reading this piece of crap. oh, if you want to find out about that band dianogah go here: http://www.xsite.net/~dianogah/ (i'm not their manager, btw)....ok bye jeff ________________________ glueslabs@earthlink.net ICQ: 59895018 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
