I dont even like D&B really, but I did notice this trait!( U R correct too,
I dont listen to it much) Someone has recently did a D&B track and its
smoking, SMOKING, I wished he'd say something.....
I have heard the Gellab(hope thats right) track from Plaid and its nice,
again I dont care for D&B, but U gotta like songs like that.
What gives on this Use of Weapons, never heard of this disguise. But I do
agree Will, Mark P. is no joke when it comes to diverse yet quality
recordings.

Some drum n bass definitely does have some very nice
lush melodies. Labels like Good Looking, Ascendant
Groove, 720 Degrees, Creative Source, and some Moving
Shadow, and Metalheadz releases.
That's the thing I like about drum n bass there are so
many different styles (Jazzy, funky, tech step, etc)
There are alot more techno influenced tunes these
days.
I"M VERY SURPRISED that Use of Weapons (Mark Pritchard
aka 1/2 of Global Communications, Jedi Knights,
Reload, Link, etc) has been largerly ignored on this
list. ESPECIALLY when he is such a well-respected IDM
artist. The most recent release Use Of Weapons -
Stan's Plan [Droppin' Science], the basslines totally
sound like something Tom Jenkinson would do. In fact,
I gave a mixed cd to Brock Suter (ex-idm list member)
and he was totally convinced that it was a Tom
Jenkinson tune when he heard it.
Mark Pritchard is also doing an album with Danny
Breaks, the project is called Vertigo. I expect that
will be a great release!!
Also, on the lush melodic dnb tip.....The PLAID remix
of Studio Pressure (aka Photek) [Certificate 18] is a
must have!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping Plaid would venture
a little more in that territory for future releases.
Oh well, I almost always dig all of their tunes and
remixes. Cheers
