most policies don't have exclusions for records and CD's, so it's easy to
get insured. They just fall under normal contents of dwelling. Trick is
to have an exact list w/replacement cost of everything you own so that if
they all burn to the ground you have prove that their line of credit at
HMV isn't going to get your collection back (ie. I send an updated
filemaker program to insurance company every 6 months)
for reference, my collection is insured for $50 000 which cost about $400
a year. Small price for the peace it gives me.
