EyeDeeAm, just a few recommendations. if you managed to grab a copy of 1/Tau (believe only 500 'pressings' of this self-released CD were made...), definitely try to hunt down a copy of Don't Dolby. (also limited... managed to snag a copy from Modern Music..) a great mixture of sample manipulation and 'random' melodies. (kinda fading in and out as 'dead air' chops the various tracks up into smaller pieces..) nothing that you can really tap your foot to, but probably best described as the rest stop between Mego and Skam. oh yeah, last time i checked, modern music had ONE copy of 1/Tau in the CD rack. (it's worth the twenty something bucks...) also of note is the release by Pluramon. idm or not?? don't really know how you'd 'categorize' it, but it's damn tasty. (werner, schmikler, and liebziet aim to please...) plenty of acoustic guitar, various drum kits, some drum machines, and some radio noise / broadcasts in the backround. (with a few samples and synth pads floating around here and there..) it's disjointed, funky, soothing, ambient, and at times quite minimal. nifty to say the least... last but not least (haven't seen any reviews / remarks posted about this limited burn..) is the subconcious geography compilation. straight up great idm material. fav. tracks are those by jowonio productions and qwerty. some tweaked d'n'b releases with a perfect mix of your 'not so ordinary' melodic compositions. slick packaging and a promising step forward for this up and coming label. (not to mention the bands / artists contained on this CD..) as for the stuff on 'other' labels (being those that aren't listed as your 'typical' idm representative..), also check out newt, pal, imminent starvation, not breathing, phil western (philth of download, off and gone, float point, etc...), winter kalte, soma, and black lung to name a few.. anxiously waiting for the 242 gang to hit D.C, christian -- " Easy to assemble.
