Mainly, I suspect, because most people would go, "What? Is that it?"
and stomp off in a huff. For the most part, they're using stuff that
anyone can walking into a store and buy -- loads of old, cheap stuff
too (Rolands, Casios, Ensoniqs, etc). It's not so much the
sound-generating equipment that's important but the way they
manipulate the sounds. Same with any music really.
