Well, while I wouldn't call it idm, but possibly as close as Eye might
get to it, check out Eye & Ohtake's Puzzle Punks incarnation, specifically
their recent "Budub" CD (Time Bomb - Japan, 1996). Avaialble from Bent
Crayon, Forced Exposure, Vinyl Ink etc. Electronic bleepery, drone & other
sonic weirdness, some of it reminiscent of Ohtake's early 19/Juke material
as well as various old-school industrial noodlings.
The track on Valis II was taken from the other Puzzle Punks CD, "Pipeline:
24 Smash Hits By 24 Puzzle Punk Bands" on UCA. Though less idm-related
than "Budub", this is also worth checking out if you can find it. It was
limited and quite expensive (Jap import), and it comes with a huge 60+ page
color tour diary (in Japanese) by Eye that includes much of Ohtake's
artwork including the Valis II sleeves. I got mine from BC, so you could
check if
John can still get this ...
Eye was also involved with Japanese hip-hop wierdo's Audio Sports at one
point, and I have heard he occasionally DJs at clubs where he's been known
to spin and mix various techno oddities. He also recently did a few techno-
ish remixes for various artists, some of which (as you mentioned above)
have been released, some have not.
