one of my favorite topics, and I'm sure some asshole will say this thread is
off topic but they can deal with it.
i love to make music more than anything. and i wouldn't be doing it without
"wynona".... my roland jp-8000.
i love her so dearly. I really can't say anything bad about her, ther is a
lack of sequwncer, but there's only two midi channels anyways, and computer
sequencers are 100 times easier to use. She has plenty of onboard storage
for patches, and roland has released a nice program for uploading and
downloading patches to it via midi, so that's no problem. I can get some of
the most beautiful analog sounds out of her, as well as smoosth pads, and
some crazy ass noises. i really do feel that it kicks the shit out of any
juno 106, cs2x, mks, jx-305, on the market. it can make those 303 sounds
too. the only thing that competes in my opinion is the sh-101. but that's
because i like old analog sounds with white noise and lots of release.
i think the great thing about the jp is that all of the controls are right
there in your face and ready. nothing is hidden. and the arpeggiator is
lush. it's great for lots of stuff. i think everyone should stop with the
juno shit, that thing sucks. but my opinion is just that, my opinion.
BTW, anyone else think it's odd that we get a whole shitload of bitching
about artists promoting themselves on the list, and then the same people
come back and say "we're hurting artists by copying their music. they
should make money on their work instead of someone stealing it etc."
promoting is how you make money. some people on this list need to get their
head out of their ass.
