This is the first Squarepusher record I've bought, so bare with me, I have listened to quite a few tracks from Feed Me Weird Things: Squarepusher: Vic Acid - 1. Vic Acid (Hard and Normal Mix) I love this track, some pretty choppy breaks, awesome bassline. I reckon there's a reason why this is called Vic Acid (not only this track). It's full of acid-type sounds and wicked schlaps. :S 2. Lone Raver (Live in Chelmsform Mix) This track makes me think about what would happen if some of that good ol' 303 acid stuff met drum'n'bass, something I've actually been thinking about doing, but this not exactly what I had in mind. IMO Vic Acid and this are the best tracks on the ep. Is that a crowd I hear at the end? 3. Fat Controller (G7000 Remix) The beginning of this sounds like the sound of popcorn popping put through some serious distortion. This sound seems to be modulated in a similar way to the way sounds are modulated in Goa, except this is certainly not Goa. Lots of beeps, bleeps, and acidlines. What's this? There's a kind melody at the end of this. Most d&b melodies are somewhat mean, but this one is really nice. More popcorn popping at the end. Funny, the label on this side (b-side) of the record shows what looks like a bunch of popcorn. 3.5 Huh.. A track between 3 and 4. Ouch, sounds like someone scratching a chalkboard, and it actually reproduced the sound.. The wonder of modern technology. This lasts only about 6 seconds btw. 4. The Barn (303 Kebab Mix) This is more like what you would call acid-trance/house, at least it's not drum'n'bass, at least not in MY opinion. Some 303 riffs with some drums over the top. There's some house-breaks towards the end of this track. This track is okay, it's not too special. hmm.. With a second look, that popcorn on the b-side's label loooks like that teddybear on the front of the sleeve. Oh no, not more teddybears ;) Actually it looks a little more like a mouse. Now we'll see RDJ and µ-Ziq get in a mouse costume and duke it out on-stage at Squarepusher gigs. This is simply brilliant, this now stands as one of my favorite records. -- __ __\ \ Aurafix aka Hillie / PHD ^ DAMONES (aka Rare Guy) / /_\ \ http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html \_____/ >> buh@clark.net >> < > .. >> .<>> >> > , m7= inducing mindwaves.. electronic techno muuusik controlled manually by a p h e x t wi n .. .. . . .
