I was thinking today, after some very well thought out posts, about the
whole 'what is IDM now?' thread. I think I can sum up my thoughts quite
simply.
Since part of the name of this list is 'intelligent,' maybe this simply
implies that the converstion about the 'dance music' is (or should be)
intelligent. Not necessarily the music.
If this approach is taken, then talking about, say, U2 or some other more
pop-like musician, doesn't come off so poorly.
BTW, I do agree that the 'old' definition of IDM doesn't seem to apply as
well as it used to.
