I thought there was some small agreement by some Ae trainspotters who thought that their releases after '96 lost creative effect and they meandered into incoherent sounds to find themselves again - which they did with EP 7 and LP 5. Personally Incunabula is their greatest work to date - and Basscadet remixes are very hard to rival - all this coming from the heydays of the AI camp, their track on the AI 2 compilation on Warp is also pure genius. And their Anti EP was also groundbreaking but apart from Anvil Vapre in 95, they didn't really strike me at all (even though this period influenced a great deal of other musicians - a testimony of a great band) Basically, those who enjoy difficult listening would prefer the Chiastic/ Chistlicsuite days, but I am into ambient electronics, therefore early Ae really does it for me.
