If you live in Socal, you can still hear Poorman on loveline. He's
started it up again on Groove Radio, 103.1. A couple of friends were on
loveline a month ago. Poorman also showcases local techno talent in his
'10 minutes of fame' during the show. It's at 5:00am or some crappy
hour like that. BTW, groove radio is great if you like shitty house
music and old disco hits. They did interview Juan Atkins on his
birthday (he was in town?!?) Now they play 'Clear' at least once a day,
like they just discovered it.

It's nice of you to totally discredit the worth of the DJ. I feel like
burning you ass on this one but I'm going to be nice.
I have many friends who are DJ's, have met dozens of traveling djs who
are kind enough to bring their music and skills to my city. Out of all
these 'lame' people, only a few I've met were assholes and demanded
respect (keoki comes to mind). The rest are some of the groovyist,
humble, cool people you'll ever hang out with. I guess you've never
chatted up Mixmaster Morris?
As for doing virtually nothing, everyone know that's bullshit. I put
just as much effort into mixing 2 records as I do mixing down original
music in the studio. If the constant pressure of 'playing good' and not
wanting to fuck up everyone else's groove isn't enough, there's many
other factors that make DJing a hell of a lot of work. Try it some
time.

I choose, purchase and play 'my music'. Just like the books I read are
'my books' and the computer I'm typing this on is 'my computer' Let's
not get into semantics, you KNEW what I meant.
Last, I don't trust people who don't smile or laugh, either. Grooving
to the music is as much a indication of enjoying music as smiling shows
your enjoying life! I know everyone doesn't dance or smile, but at
least show your having some kind of reaction to what's going on!
