I'm not. I loved the Kinesthesia 12"s to death, same with the album (though not as much as the 12"s, wish they were on CD so I could play them while commuting). The Cylob album was a disappointment though, because Chris seems to have gone all poppy on us just like Mike Paradinas. I for one really love that dark, evil music that used to come out on RePHLeX, the stuff that combined dissonant synthi melodies layered on top of complex distorted percussion with psychedelic, isolatioist sounds/timbres. Like Church of Pain, with its incredible screwed up organ chords and such, wow. Truly unique. Cylobian Sunset, by comparison, sounds like a waste of good talent and music equipment. Chris could have really churned out some killer stuff that made good use of his analog machines and his phenomenal innovation/creativity, but all he ended up doing was creating yet another cheesy pseudo electro revival album, with very predictable and disposable melodies a la any other music in this genre. It's not bad at all, mind you, it's actually extremely good. Very well done. He could have done something far, far, far better though. Oh well, maybe next time. If you like this album though and you do not have the Kinesthesia 12"s, get them. You have no idea what you are missing. Photek on the other hand... buy UFO/Rings Around Saturn, and try out the latter at 33... it's amazing.
