A Guy Called Gerald/Lisa May: The curse of Voodoo Ray (Juice Box) 1. Alex Reece - spirit of 88 mix 2. Francois Kevorkian - smoothie mix 3. Man'chiavellian - full 8 mins edit mix 4. Justin Robertson - lionrock soundtrack mix 5. K Groove - voodoo groove mix 6. A Guy Called Gerald - original mix 7. Man'chiavellian - radio edit mix Five new remixes of the classic rave anthem "Voodoo Ray" all doing something a little different. The Alex Reece mix sounds like your typical Alex Reece tune with vocal snippets from the original thrown in. The Francois Kevorkian mix is a shuffling trancy-techno piece that reminded me of a Mark Broom track with a "..deja.." sample being the only link to the original. The Man'chiavellian mix is a hard house affair that takes takes a number of the vocal pieces from the original and loops them into rhythm and melody tracks but halfway through this mix the hard house shifts to breakbeat using the signature voodoo ray meldoy and "vooo-dooo ray" sample. This mix will probably bet the most play in the clubs. The Justin Robertson mix was by far my favorite utilizing the signiture voodoo ray melody with a lone whining guitar line, a groovy triphop bassline, and a xylaphone. The "vooo-dooo ray" sample abounds as does the sample "now back to modern times..." Finally the K Groove mix returns to the house formula utilizing much of the original. This is a nice pack of remixes all of which breath new life into a classic. These mixes all reflect the work of the remixers more than that of Gerald Simpson so this really shouldn't be considered a new A Guy Called Geral release but more of an updating of an old favorite. 8/10 -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
