i'd say off the top of my head that you can't get into IDM seriously
without at least 2 or 3 thousand bucks worth of gear. i doubt that many
people in their 20's have that much sitting around.
on my first record, i made about $1100. and that was a pretty good seller
(over 2000 copies).
of course, i've actually sunk something closer to $10000 into my studio.
i think the numbers speak for themselves.
