To re-enforce the statements given previously:
The Mike Yui "small sounds" CD is great. Sort of like Pita meets Chris
Watson meets Oval. Not an overly complex listen, but interesting to go
from speakers to headphones and back again. The samples retain a lot of
digital-ness: you can hear the start and stop points sometimes, which does
nothing but add to the effect of the CD.
AND my Tod Dockstader "8 electronic pieces" is in the mail. I thought
GEMM sucked, but if I get this item Ok, I may just change into a raving
fan. I've been looking for this LP reasonably priced for literally years
after I heard it in my schools listening library. I passed it up for $20
once, and have never forgiven myself.
Any other Dockstader fans out there? (other than aphex twin o' course) He
seems to be somewhat of an unknown in the electro-acoustic world. A pity.
He's the tits.
