To all you lucky IDM'ers who are lucky enough to see the Autechre/STC tour,
Have fun! I do not know why Denver is not on the tour. A few years ago,
Autechre came to the area, why can't some promoter have the balls to do
it again when Autechre is kicking some major ass! Denver wants to be the
next Los Angeles. Where the whole scene is kissing ass to Dj's. The LA
scene is all about DJs never about the artists, sure groups like Banco
de Gaia have performed in LA, but the majority of people out there only
care about which DJ is on the Flyer to next weekend's rave.
At least, LA does have live artists perform. I'll them credit there, but
DENVER? No way, we charge $20 at the door of a rave just because some
jerk who flew out here from NY is putting a needle on a record? Boy, what
a laborious task. Anybody, and I do say, Anybody, can DJ! Anyone want to
differ I will win hands down, I don;t care who you are,I don't care if
your name is Keoki (kooky), anybody can DJ. This is not to deny the
importance of some DJ's. Some have helped push the music to areas
unimmagineable. Example- Bruno Guez and Jason Bentley, both who are from
LA.I fyou haven't heard anything on the Quango label, i suggest you do!
There are numerous others, but I don't need to list them. Nevertheless, I
still stand my ground that anyone can dj!
If you are a serious IDM'er there isn't a strong scene for ya' in DENVER.
Maybe one day we may have one, but by then I'll be gone (I am moving
soon). Until promoters in Denver get the balls to get sesnsational
artists like Autechre out here, we won't have a strong IDM scene and that
is just unfortunate for music that is just sooooo fucking (sorry) damn good!
