I'm interested in finding more on the more experimental tip.
Some people felt I was dissing English D&B, and for that I apologize.
That wasn't actually my intention. I've heard so much fairly ordinary,
cliched jungle, which is what I was referring to. And there's a whole
class of stuff (ragga, bhangra/jungle, gansta, more hardcore-oriented
stuff) that is probably good on it's own terms, but does not, as
Quakers say, 'speak to my condition.'
And what is the deal with the Subtropic disk anyway? Who is
Jake? Why was this apparently out in England long before the US,
even though it's on Reflective out of San Francisco?
For those of you who've got access to the Internet compilation Fusion 4,
there's a really choice junglish track on that tape.
