Astralwerks has pushed back the Muziq 'In Pine Effect' release for a week or two. I bought the import Saturday and love it. I have to recuse myself from reviewing MP's stuff anymore, since by my lights he can do no wrong, but this is another great release that highlights his melodic and rhythmic sensibilities, puckish humor, and love of noise. Standouts for me are 'Iced Jem' which has hopped up jungle drumming without being a total jump on the jungle bandwagon. Pine Effect, which is another of his trademark funk & DX7 hummable wonders. And some great piano playing. 'Mr. Angry' reminds me of the screaming track on AFX Analogue Bubblebath IV. Since muZiq started out by performing Aphex Twin covers, it's one of those Nod to a Mate numbers. On the back it says "Dedicated to Baby Damon, always remembered." Anyone know the story behind this? -- kent.williams@cadsi.com [Kent Williams/CADSI/2651 Crosspark Rd/Coralville IA 52241/(319)626-6700] 3 Reasons Why Not to use OS/2: Half of the prisons in the United States are run by OS/2.
