hey any of you know of a disc by an artist of this title? I remember the disc was white (very little artwork, if any at all). ALL I remember is that the music was GREAT and by an artist named the Diceman, but it was NOT RDJ! Someone must know this. I am sure someone on the list, thought to themselves "holy shit, It's RDJ's DICEMAN full-length on a CD!Omagawd!" and bought it. anyone? gil

The Diceman has made a couple of 12" 's (all but one on his own Vivatonal label), but as far as I know, never a complete album. However, all other releases on Vivatonal (LMNO, Solace, Bob & Ian, et al.) are all from the hand of the same guy that's also behind The Diceman, Colin James (no relation). The disc you describe is probably the Vivatonal compilation, simply called 'Vivatonal' (Vivatonal VTTLP 01), which has a few tracks by The Diceman, and would in a way qualify as a complete album, since all the track were done by the same guy anyway (except the intro, which is by Greg Retch formerly of Meat Beat). I don't own a copy of CD, but the artwork of the album sleeve is also primarily white, with an embossed Vivatonal logo, so that's probably it. It's a great album, although IMO The Diceman tracks are the best. Maybe you could try to track down some of his 12"'s. The ones that I know of are: Quad (Brainiak BRAINK 12) The Tempest (Vivatonal VTT 1) Supervisor Error (Vivatonal VTT 2) Sonic System (Vivatonal VTT 5) Le Noir (Vivatonal VTT 8) Sonic System (remix) (Vivatonal VTR 2) Maarten * 1996 * ALBUMS 1. Happy new year IDM'ers As it happens in my CD box which I brought to work today I have my copy of the Vivational CD... It say's inside "all tracks written by Jolly James", I bought it thinking that this was RDJ :-) Tracklisting goes like this: Musical Director - Admission The Diceman - Supervisor Error The Diceman - Quad (Spooky's Magi Remix) Emanon - Floating Point LMNO - Silcock Express LMNO - Silcock Express (Sabres of Paradise Remix) [BTW: I still have friends coming up to me asking for that Aphex Twin track remixed by SOP] Bob & Ian - Purpuss (Kris Needs Mix) LMNO - Y LMNO - X (Rad Rice Remix) The Diceman - Sonic System (Vinyl Blair Mix) Solace - Hold Me Now Solace - Hold Me Now (Bedrock Mix) (c) 1994 Vivational IME this disc was essential DJ fodder in 1995, unfortunately being South African we can't really get vinyl (& it's bloody expensive!) otherwise I would have the twelvies. matthew d. smith kontrolman on now: new electronica vol 1. ---------- From: Marcel Sent: Tuesday, 31 December, 1996 2:49 AM To: idm@hyperreal.com Subject: (idm) The Dice man (NOT RDJ!!!) hey any of you know of a disc by an artist of this title?
