Hey y'all,
I'm pretty new to idm (both the list and the music), but thought I'd
relate something interesting and ask a few questions....
First, I've been going thru the archives and hadn't seen any mention
of the Silver Apples, so here goes - I got a CD with 2 of their albums
on it (from 68 & 69) and *it's idm*!!!! Except for the hippy-dippy
vox (which work OK, since that *was* the hippie era (nuthin' against
it, I like some hippie-era music, don't like some)), the sounds that
these 2 guys make sound so damn *new* - like they coulda been
recorded a few weeks ago and put out on a whitelabel!!!!
Strange....does anybody else have that opinion?
OK, question time - I live in Oklahoma City and the idm selection
here *sucks*! I know the manager/orderer for a pretty good
independent record store here and saw him the other day for the first
time in a long while and he asked what I was into recently, and as I
reeled off a long list of idm stuff, he had a blank look on his face.
So not much of a chance to get stuff thru him (his wholesalers
apparently don't carry most idm-type artists). Anyway - aside from
CDnow, CDEurope, and CDConnection, what's a good way to get stuff?
Is there any chance of trading tapes (haven't seen much mention of
that kinda thing in the archives)? I recently went to Boulder, CO
and found a *shitload* of stuff (dropped about $400 in 2 stores -
they were real happy when I left :-)), but aside from trips like
that, I just can't get idm!
And on that same note - (this is actually a Mo'Wax question - dont'
hurt me :-)) does anybody know where I can get a CD copy of
U.N.K.L.E. - "The Time Has Come" remixes?
Anyway, I apologize for the length, and appreciate any info anybody
can give me (BTW, the archives are *great* - gleaned lotsa good bits
outta there!)....
