Jan 2000
Hello new space people.
Well, the world never ended and my views never really expanded but my
waistline did. The Scanner world continues with amusingly unusual projects
- having spent 1999 travelling a great deal and getting to work with some
wonderful people this year is soon filling up. A little updated diary is
tucked away at the bottom here so our paths might cross at some point over
a glass of orange juice.
The long anticipated DJ Spooky / Scanner CD is on its way very soon, with
some mixed up live dates to follow. Out of focus beats melted into abstract
textures. This is followed by the second in the Meld series by NYC based
artist Stephen Vitiello: 'Funky Marimba': beats aplenty with processed
drums and guitars.
For the first time in my memory the UK has a host of interesting sound
related shows worth checking out too - at the Hayward Gallery London in
April 'Sonic Boom' curated by David Toop, then 'Audible Light' at the MOMA
Oxford and another in Cambridge. Vienna in Austria balances the scales with
its own 'Sounds & Files' show at the Kunstlerhaus, Karlsplatz 5 March 10
- April 16. Switch off that Mariah Carey/Squarepusher Mix CD you got for
Christmas and go out...
So for now, hoping you are well.
Keep in touch.
