doing a little idm weave using a couple of recent threads. . . (buzzwords and american techno) in my own little world (no affirmation necessary thank you) the buzzword for 1994 is shaping up to be MINIMALISM. . . Sorry Ms. DJAX, But if J.Drukman was MY roommate, i wouldnt stop him from smashing up your latest cd to pieces. . .that was baaaaad but here's a peek at some very teepworthy (read: funky and syncopated) MINIMALISM from Chicago. . .where the kids with drum machines make techno instead of hip hop. . .and fill the floors with a shake your butt spirit. . .instead of a move your ass out of the way attitude UNDERGROUND TRAX UGT001 DJ FUNK - 1 STREET TRAX Aside 1-work that big booty 2-it's overboiled (crockpot mix) 3-space invasion 4-native beats 5-digital house 6-knock knock (909 mix) Bside 1-no way out 2-2001 3-acid warp 4-funkulater (short mix) 5-track 101 -most likely only a vynal release here. . .not really for the home- --also of note, the tracks are "loopy". . .short dj tools. . .work!-- judging from the track names it's clear that dj funk has got a sense of humor. . .and it's been a while since i've jumped around the dance floor laughing. . .but i'm back. . .hahahahahaha! as you would expect *. . .that big booty* borrows the NEVER tired tumbling drum loop from S. Poindexters *work that. . .* (i trust you can fill in the blanks here) but Funk lifts this track up to a new level by tossing in extra pop on the 4 and an old school sample "party people in the house" *space invasion, native beats and digital house* are a trio of minimal expansions on funky acid very similar in structure but subtly different in the acid exploration department. . .(bakerresque) *2001* is flat out future funk. . .an intense circle puller *acid warp* is my favorite. . .great syncopation and effects like having the whole gig spun at the bottom of a swimming pool (filled with water of course! bring your snorkel;) *track 101* has got the kind of POP that makes me wanna breakout my techno kuts and skip work for days. . .which does happen oh, let's not forget *the funkulator*, yes it's a spoof of the underground goodies. . .complete with vocals but unfortunatly missing a key ingredient. . .the perk! enough drivel teep! strip it down to the point. . . 9/11 on the subjectometer clearly worth the tiny tag ($5) "i guess i'll post you later" the id-M-ulator, Teep
