ok so i've digested one half of SAW2 (2 cassete promo)
BIG NEWS BOPPERS
the early reports were all *right* ;)
minimal is the key word. . .most of the tracks have a stream of sound
feel to them. . .single notes sent into infinite space (what the hell
does Rich do to his delays) . . .and sustain that discreetly reminds me
of Eno. . .there are though, times when the tracks widen up and we get
treated to the river of sound and syncopation that is driving me far
and away from Joe Thumper. . .one track in particular (here we go!)
features a low end jazzy organ jam. . .woven thick into a percussion web
there's also the obligatory tear jerker. . .a track that reminds me
of my wedding day. . .mostly because the chord changes and organs in
it are tinted the same shade of blue as Enya-on your shore. . .which
was played as the bride glided down the aisle with her parents arm in arm
today i pick up the second 1/2 . . .and perhaps . . .
the real thing
