"DUCK DOWN. . .SUCKER . . .DUCK DOWN" KRS ONE
quick out of the gate and well ahead of the pack (no not an R&S track;)
comes more brilliant TECHNO (remember techno?!!) from the
Rephlex stable . . .Chris Jeffs-Kinesthesia Vol I (rephlex cat011)
a four tracker with considerable hardcore clout and bonafide
experimental (yet highly danceable and down-RIGHT fooonkeee!) music
printside outer
GERMAN - file under/rephlex gabber?
this hardcore trancy tune is built up with a slightly sycopated
gumbo of bizzare samples (auto engines turning over and
a kids bicycle horn?) fortified by a solid pounding and hosed
down with mad ear to ear AFXY production (static spray)
the whole track is held together by the humorized vocal sample of,
*OH NO. . . EVERYONE THOUGHT WE WERE GERMAN*
printside inner
4J - file under/J4
yes, this track appears to have much in common with the printside
outer track on the Joyrex j4. . .sweet vibes and pop pop pop!
the synth and beat combo is reminiscent of something off SAW 85-92
99% thump free and packed with deep dusty thunderdrums and more tricky
production (way back in the mix) the reprisals and acid breakdowns here
pack a hook big enough to land this techno purist.
boxside outer
CHURCH OF PAIN - file under/crunch crusade
step off! lobbing beats out with the authority of ON and casting evil
that makes the J9ii feel like a lullaby this track is a full on stormer
acid thunder clean and fast. . .buckle your seatbelt kidz for
the mid track explosion of demented church organ. . .all i can think
of here, stacks of speakers-new york city. . .and lenny d
boxside inner
KOBAL (sp?) - file under/jamorama
damn i love this track. . .top top buzz. . .heavy rotation . . .
if the future of techno is funky experimental. . .my salvation is near
this track is free from thumpdom. . .deep synths that hook you harder
than 4J here. . .and syncopated boom pop pop drum track that sends me
into a freak dance frenzy. . .this track has old school flavor but
we're clearly in the 90's. . .fog horns from XEPHA call out and ripping
electro samples from GREEN CALX. . .no question chris likes the twin
deep freestyleish rhythm and dubby vibes reprising for eternity
transforming static blasts in the breakdown. . .this track restores
my confidence in modern techno. . .
if rephlex keeps up the pace i'm gonna be poor. . .fast
high fives and low end
