1. NEW RELEASES:
--------------------------------------------
PHYSICAL - Thinkbox Editions 02- Guitar :
( edition: 500 )
THINKBOX presents the second in a series of thematic discs, 'Guitar'. A
follow-up to their critically acclaimed 'Settings' project, this 13 track
full-length disc finds the collective exploring the fertile landscape of
mixing laptops with guitars in distinct, innovative ways.
The challenge in undertaking this project was to derive, through the use of
computers and signal processing, new ways of looking at the well-established
tradition of the guitar. At the start of this project, each member took on
the private task of coaxing a body of 'source sounds' from what is arguably
still the mainstream music industry's most popular instrument. From this
point, each participating artist developed their own process to
recontextualize the modern guitar sound. The results are now being made
available as a limited edition public consumable.
As the collective's signature sound becomes more apparent, the idea of theme
is set in place to guide the collective's hand in new directions. In
contrast to the industry's use of the compilation CD as a showcase designed
to unite unknown acts with name-brand talent, THINKBOX is using the
'Editions' Series as a personal project platform for its membership to
explore innovative sound concepts.
In this manner, 'Guitar' sees THINKBOX releasing a diverse, shimmering
collection of sensitive compositions that is both seductive and easily
accessible.

electroacoustic composers, the Centre has broadened their mandate over the
years and has recently added a "Techno/Ambient" genre to their catalogue. We
are happy to have Thinkbox releases represented amongst such prestigious

links to a few rare MP3s of sound works (including a 2-minute excerpt from
