Ok, to make things quick, to rsvp to get in for half price ($5) send an
email to rsvp@unevenfoundation.com , don't be a sucka, just do it :-)
First off, thanks to everyone who came out to see Hong Kong Counterfeit
last week, it was a great turn out and an excellent party. Big ups to
everyone who danced until 4 in the morning, you know who you are. Void's
a great spot no? The sound is awesome, the projection screen is simply
special and drink prices allow you to get real nice, it's also great to
be able to dance there, we are thankful.
So, this week we're really excited to present 2 excellent dj
performances:
1. DJ High Priest
(Not Priest from Antipop) This is the original High Priest from way back
in the early days of hip hop when b-boy's rocked the worm on cardboard
mats in front of Woolworths and Fresh was the word, Nick Taylor (High
Priest) began playing with the form along side the Death Comet Crew,
Basquiat, Gallo and of course the bigger names of that era like Run DMC,
Kool Moe Dee and Grand Master Flash. This is hip hop at it's roots
electro beats, vocoders, drum machines, MCs and turntables, burgundy
Lee's and shelltops, no guns, no blings, just words and a fresh beat.
2. Secret Frequency Crew
I first saw these guys at big club in their hometown, Miami. They tore
that place up with a seamless mix of hip hop, electro and electronics.
Now having relocated to NYC they've just released a new 12" called
"Miami Eyes" with a remix by Andrea Parker on MTA records. They know how
to get a party going and their music is fantastic so come and check them
out.
3. RecordCamp DJs
So many new records, so many new records still sitting in bags waiting
to be played. It's been a blast djing at void, especially with people
dancing in front of the booth so these weeks record shopping focused on
some definite party favors.
