Zygote - Reversion Sequence 1 San Francisco's Zygote serves up what could easily be one of the most well thought out "retro" electronic records this year. While many artists are trying to be New, New Wave with their production techniques, Zygote has managed to side-step the kitch factor and create something that is truly timeless. Songs like "hug your machines" and "the last confines of logic" feel very familiar and nostalgic, but there is something just beneath the surface that is truly meloncoly, sad and as individually expressive as a finger print. Out of the entire "electroclash" scene happening right now, I venture to say that this is the only record I've heard from that genre that actually doesn't deserve the name. track listing: 1. rev seq 1, intro 2. science faction 3. egg chairs 4. hug your machines 5. "the last confines of logic" 6. quantum meloncoly 7. no child of earth 8. music for strip malls (remix of "wind-up beast" by Christian Science Minotaur, Little Furry Things Records, NYC) 9. rev seq 1, outro _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
